Face Book, My Space, And Other Social Networking Programs

A defendant should always be careful to avoid putting anything in a social networking program that he or she would be embarrassed to have presented to the prosecutor, a court, or a jury. It is extremely important to avoid any activity that demonstrates either the commission of a crime or offense, or a substance abuse problem. A person should be extremely careful to know exactly who is a true friend before opening private spaces in a social network program to others. Social networking data can be obtained many years after the information is published.
